Erreplus Saddles care and maitenance

The complete guide

Caring and maintenance instructions

To ensure the durability, functionality, and beauty of your Erreplus saddle, it is essential to carefully follow the caring and maintenance instructions. Horse sweat is particularly acidic, which alters the natural pH of the bull leather used in Erreplus saddles. Erreplus care products are specially formulated with a pH neutraliser to keep the leather’s pH balanced, especially in the areas most in contact with the horse.

SADDLE CLEANED IN 3 MINUTES

Daily Saddle Cleaning

After every ride, especially during warmer periods, it is important to remove sweat, dirt, and dust residues to preserve the bull leather of your Erreplus saddle.

What you need

  • Clean soft sponge
  • Erreplus Leather Cleaner

How to do it

  • Shake the Erreplus Leather Cleaner bottle well to reactivate the foam.
  • Spray a small amount of product onto a soft sponge.
  • Gently wipe all saddle surfaces (both outside and inside), paying special attention to the stitching.
  • Rinse the sponge with clean water, dry it, and keep it exclusively for this purpose.

This step is essential to restore the leather’s natural pH and keep it supple and soft.

Periodic Treatment with Erreplus Leather Balsam

To nourish and protect bull leather over time, it is recommended to apply Erreplus Balsam at least every two weeks.

What you need

  • Dedicated soft sponge
  • Erreplus Leather Balsam
  • Dry cotton cloth

How to do it

  • Apply a small amount of Erreplus Leather Balsam to the sponge.
  • Spread a thin layer of Erreplus Leather Balsam over all the saddle surfaces, both outer and inner.
  • Carefully avoid applying the balsam to the girth billets (see next point).
  • Leave the Erreplus Leather Balsam to work overnight to allow the bull leather to absorb it deeply.
  • The following day, use a dry cotton cloth to remove any excess and gently polish the saddle.

Care of the Girth Billets

The girth billets on Erreplus saddles are made from a special chrome-treated leather, about 5 mm thick, which is durable but prone to wear. It is important to treat them with particular care.

Frequency

  • No more than twice a year.

How to do it

  • Apply only a very thin layer of Erreplus Leather Balsam to the top surface of the billets.
  • Do not treat the underside of the billets to avoid making them too elastic, which could affect the saddle’s stability.
  • Regularly check the condition of the billets and consult a qualified Erreplus dealer for any replacements.

Important Precautions

  • Use only original Erreplus products. Other cleaners or balms may damage the leather and void the warranty.
  • Avoid using adhesive products or sprays to improve grip: these products alter the surface of the bull leather.
  • Store the saddle in a dry place, away from humidity and excessive heat sources. Always use a breathable saddle cover.
  • Never store the girth (especially if sweaty) on the saddle seat. This very common practice can damage the leather of the seat.
  • Never cross the stirrups over the saddle seat. This frequent habit, if done without the Erreplus stirrup bag, causes the flaps to curl and the dirt always present on the stirrups damages the saddle leather.

Periodical Check

  • Frequently inspect the stitching and billets of the saddle.
  • In case of wear or damage, contact an authorised dealer for assistance and part replacement.

By following this guide, your Erreplus saddle will maintain its beauty, functionality, and suppleness over time, ensuring comfort and safety for both you and your horse.
